Qatar Museums have announced a series of upcoming exhibitions and cultural events for late 2016 – 2017.

Speaking to the press at the Museum of Islamic Art in Doha, Qatar Museums chief strategic planning officer Khalid al-Ibrahim revealed a series of upcoming exhibitions and cultural events coming to Qatar within the next months.

The exhibitions include “I am the cry, who will give voice to me?”, which includes more than 546 works that span over the course of 50 years following the works of the Iraqi artist Dia al-Azzawi. It will be available at the Qatar Museums Gallery Al Riwaq as of October 16.

Another exhibition named “Fatat” (A Girl), also by an Iraqi artist, Mahmoud Obaidi, on the 18th of October at the Qatar Museums’ gallery at Katara Cultural Village. The exhibit portrays the aftermath of chaos that has been destroying the 8,000-year-old city of Baghdad. It was also announced that two new sculptures by al-Azzawi will be unveiled at the Hamad International Airport.

The spokesperson also said that they will be promoting local artists like Yousef Ahmad and Faraj Daham through celebrated exhibitions.

Other exhibitions happening around Qatar are: Treasures of China (until January 7, 2017 at MIA), Muhammad Ali: Tribute to a Legend (until November 5 at MIA), Fair Skies (until January 8, 2017 at Project Space, Mathaf). As well as Qatar’s contribution to the Qatar-China Cultural Year, Pearls: Jewels from the Sea and the Rivers, which will be on display until January 8, 2017 at the National Museum of China in Beijing.

Qatar Museums also expressed excitement about the Chinese Festival that will take place from November 2 until 5, at the Museum of Islamic Art.
