IHF Super Globe 2016

Doha will be hosting the 10th edition of the Continental Handball Champion Clubs Tournament, otherwise known as the Super Globe 2016, starting next Monday.

The Qatar Handball Association has arranged to host the 2016 Super Globe, where handball club champions from continental handball federations in Asia, Africa, Pan America, Europe and Australia will compete for the intercontinental champion title.

It will be hosted from September 5, until September 8, at the Duhail Handball Sports Hall. Qatar will be represented by Al Sadd and Lekhwiya. Al Sadd won the title in 2002, and has also achieved two silver medals and one bronze before.

Al Sadd will be first up against hard contender Australia’s Sydney University HC, five time Australian men’s national champions, and four time Oceana champion title winner.

First match will be against current title holders, KS Vive Tauron Kielce from Poland and Brazil’s Taubate. And in the second match, Tunisia’s Esperance will stand-up against the French Paris Saint Germain, followed by a game between Qatar’s Lekhwiya against current champions, the German Füchse Berlin.

The Super Globe 2016 is the International Handball Federation event, which brings together the world’s best handball clubs for a show-down. This will be the seventh consecutive time they are played in Qatar.
