Qatari Passport Holders Can Now Travel Visa-Free To More Countries

Holders of a Qatari passport can travel to 79 countries without having to apply for a visa.

Qatari nationals holding the Qatari passport can enjoy travelling to 79 countries with having done prior visa documentation work. The number of easy-access countries for Qataris has improved from last year, according Henley & Partners Visa Restrictions Index 2016, when there were 74 countries welcoming Qataris without visa restrictions.

From the 79 countries, some do not require visas from Qataris, while the rest will grant Qataris a visa upon arrival at their airports, without the need for a prior application.

Of the new countries, people holding the Qatari passport can start travelling to Turkey without worrying about a visa, after the Emir of Qatar and the Turkish president signed a travel agreement.

This puts the Qatari passport ranked higher than most of the passports in the GCC, UAE being the exceptional top ranker. Citizens of the United Arab Emirates can travel easily to 122 nations. It is ranked the 38th in the world, compared to Qatar’s 60th spot.

After the UEA, Kuwait comes third. The Kuwaiti passport grants access to 82 countries, Bahrain 72, Oman 71 and Saudi Arabia a low 69 countries.

Internationally, the Afghani passport ranks the lowest, with access to only 25 countries. The highest ranked passport, with visa-free travel to a record of 178 countries, is Germany. The German passport ranks most powerful in the world, followed by Sweden.
