The opening of the highly anticipated Tawar Mall is close and the management have announced that it will have a very traditional touch to it. The mall which is located in Al Duhail, just adjacent to the Dahl Al Hamam Park, is scheduled to open in the later quarter of 2016.
Even though the site is still under-construction, we can have a small insight into what Tawar Mall will look like. The mall is said to include over 90,000 leasable square meters, a 122 room four star boutique hotel and a 6,201 square meter hypermarket.
With an expected 200,000 visitors per week, the mall will have the feel of a traditional Qatari souq (marketplace). Over 300 shops are planned to open at Tawar Mall, along with a 12-screen cinema complex, a pool for recreational usage, an open to air art gallery, and a musical water fountain.
The modern approach to a traditional souq hopes to attract shoppers looking for clothes, food and spices. Since most malls are popular weekend and holiday destinations, Tawar Mall is designed to be an every day meeting point.
Tawar Mall will have 2700 parking spaces to accommodate all types of vehicles,with plans to expand with an additional 6000 spots in a surrounding piece of land.
