Homemade Chicken Shawarma
Ingredients
2 Large chicken breasts
1 Cup Yogurt
½ Cup Lemon juice
½ Cup olive oil
2 Cloves minced garlic
½ Tablespoon salt
1 Teaspoon chicken shawarma spices (can be bought at supermarkets and local convenient stores)
2 Well sized onions
2 Teaspoons sumac
For the sauce
½ Cup yogurt
2 Tablespoons mayonnaise
2 Tablespoons tahini
2 Tablespoons olive oil
Pinch of salt
6-8 Cloves minced garlic
Cut the chicken breasts into short strips. Mix the chicken strips with the yogurt, lemon juice, olive oil, minced garlic, spices and salt. Leave the mix aside to rest for a few minutes. Chop up the onions and add the sumac, then add them to the chicken mix.
Add some cooking oil to a pan and cook until the chicken is done.
Mix the sauce ingredients until you get an even consistency.
Serve with sauce as a dip, or roll into sandwiches and grill for a few minutes.
