An Adventure In The GCC

Summer vacation is almost up and everyone is looking for an adventure.

Many people find themselves stuck in the planning process of traveling and getting very little traveling actually done. We have taken the liberty to compiling a list of top must-sees in the GCC, so when you feel like an adventure, you’ll know it’s a small drive away.

Oman: If you haven’t visited the Royal Opera House in Muscat then you should. It is a very elegant art complex, with exhibits all year round. Oman is also home to some of the most amazing landscapes in the region. Hike through canyons, or kayak between fjords. Also worth visiting, the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque. Built from over 300,000 tonnes of Indian sandstone, this grand mosque is an architectural piece of art.

Bahrain: As all of you might know, Bahrain is home to the Tree of Life. It has stood 9 meters tall in the sand dunes for over 400 years, and is the center to ancient rituals. Another extremely fun activity to do in Bahrain, is their biggest waterpark, The Lost Paradise of Dilmun which currently covers an overall area of approximately 77,000 square metres, with each aspect of the park based on the history of the nation’s Dilmun period. And they have over 18 slides and attractions.

Saudi Arabia: Live the thrill of walking a 302.3 meter high skybridge over the Kingdom center tower. The tower also features a great mall and a hotel. The country is also the richest in Islamic history, with sacred sights through all of the KSA. Or visit Jeddah, where they have great beaches, and dozens of watersports and diving.

Kuwait: Kuwait City is all about luxury. Come down for a relaxing weekend at the spa, or a vacation just for shopping. Indulge in the cozy cafes and restaurants, or stroll through the beautiful streets. Kuwait is also home to great tourist attraction, like museums, aquaparks, amusement parks and cinema complexes.

UAE: The United Arab Emirates deserves a book to list all their attractions. Dubai alone will take a lifetime to explore. Watch the extraordinary Dubai fountains. A live arts installation spreading 275 meters, with over 6,600 lights and 25 colored projectors, it shoots water up to 152.4 meters into the air. Visit the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building, or the Burj Al Arab, the world’s first 8 star hotel.

Qatar: Doha is the city of art, history and tradition, all intermixed into a beautifully harmonic contemporary community. A Qatar must is the Museum of Islamic Art. The 5 story facility is a collection of over 1,400 years of Islamic history, from three continents and dating from the 7th to the 19th century. Or relax at the Aspire Park, Qatar’s largest park, overlooking the Aspire Tower.
