What to know

Happy Earth Day

Today marks an extremely important day, for an extremely important subject. Today is a day when humanity celebrates the essence of its very existence. Today is Earth Day. Today we should remember forests, grasslands, deserts, and coral reefs. Forty six years have gone by since the first celebrated Earth day, and forty six years after we are still perplexed at the atrocities we subject our own planet to each and every single day.

Today 160 leaders will sign the climate change agreement set in Paris, a benchmark for all of humanity and people alike. Earth day emerged in 1970 after a huge oil spill in Santa Barbara. This year, Earth day has a different benchmark, and a different taste.

Earth day allows us to remember the atrocities we perform on our very lands, and allows us to remember the earth. What truly marks this year’s Earth Day is the fact that 7.8 billion trees are being planted.

We do not have to take the streets to celebrate earth day, all we have to do is remember that change starts in our own homes, and with our own decisions. So recycle, renew, save, and think that every minor move you make influences the earth, so get smart, get clean, and get eco-friendly.
