When one visits Paris as a tourist, one of the most famous Parisian landmarks which a person must visit under any circumstance, is Le Louvre. Le Louvre is a landmark for everybody, people who love art, people who love shopping, people who love good food, and people who love ephemeral gardens. Nevertheless, the United Arab Emirates will be home to its very own Louvre, in Abu Dhabi.
The Louvre Abu Dhabi is currently in the works. An as we all can foresee the Louvre Abu Dhabi will be a monumental piece of architecture, by none other than Prtizker prize winning architect Jean Nouvel. The local spans on 64,000 square meters of land, and much like the Parisian Louvre, will have a monumental dome.
This dome is inspired by the geometric shapes, of inter-laced palm leaves, with a huge radius of 180 meters. The dome will have geometric openings, made of roofing material which allows for light and temperature control. The dome will cast beautiful natural reflections of light on the interiors of the Louvre during the day. The dome will cover two thirds of the Louvre Abu Dhabi.
Located on the Saudiat Island, the Louvre Abu Dhabi will also have promenades which take the visitor through clusters of low rise buildings.
