Nike’s Hyperadapt 1.0: Smart Shoes With Adaptive Laces

Nike has been very well known for its history, in sportswear, and has taken sportswear onto technologically advanced realms. The latest news we have had regarding Nike, have included quite some interesting innovations. Nike has recently announced its new Nike Hyperadapt 1.0, a concept shoe, for the modern wearer.

The shoe is quite a landmark for Nike as it is designed with automatic adaptive lacing technology, a controlled system, which allows the wearer to only wear the shoe without needing to tie laces. The Nike Hyperadapt 1.0 represents the new reality of automatic custom fit footwear which reacts to the body in motion.

“When you step in, your heel will hit a sensor and the system will automatically tighten,” explains Tiffany Beers, Senior Innovator, NIKE, Inc., and the project’s technical lead. “Then there are two buttons on the side to tighten and loosen. You can adjust it until it’s perfect.”

To better understand this technology, think of speed. When one is running or jumping or performing a harsher sport, the grip on the Nike Hypersport 1.0 tightens, and once the person begins walking, the shoe automatically becomes looser. Hence, it is a shoe which customizes itself, and helps you perform better.
