Sometimes when planning a vacation we overlook one of the more important aspects of travel which is finding a place to stay. With the speed at which our trip was planned we could not get an appropriate Air BNB, so we had to opt for a hotel. And I am super happy that I have. The hotel is located on Wesperplein within walking distance to Oostepark, and the Amstel. The locale we chose accommodates both students, and hotel visitors. It is called The Student Hotel.
The amenities at the hotel were well designed, it is very vibrant and colorful, the color yellow dominates as you walk into the lobby, and the décor is not limited to any specific shape, fabric, or color. The space is very friendly. We were much amused by the colors and the space. Once you walk down the lobby you see the breakfast and coffee space, along with tens of commune tables, couches, and corners. Walking inside the hotel, you notice a huge red curtain with vintage looking chairs; this space is dedicated to constantly streaming TED Talks. A huge study room is located near the TED Talks space, along with a blue gym constantly gyrating with active young students and visitors.
The experience of staying there was quite fun actually, the staff at the hotel was super friendly and super helpful. Whenever you needed some local advice or a heads up on a certain destination or activity, these people were really truly helpful, genuine, and friendly.
The hotel also consists of a restaurant and bar, which for some reason I felt did not quite harmonize with the rest of the hotel. The Student Hotel is populated with young people, and students, and the bar seemed quite a bit too upscale for something so young and urban. To constructively criticize this place is to say that maybe with a few more added restaurants or eateries, students and guests would be ecstatic during their stay!
One more thing I have to note is that the hotel is very eco friendly, which gave our stay added value. Again, to conclude the place was really great, super clean, super helpful, overall our stay was more than satisfactory.
