The British Council’s Tech Hub in Lebanon

Entrepreneurs combine innovation, strategic thinking, and fresh concepts. The exact recipe needed for cultural reform, and technological advancement within a society. It is quite relieving to find that the entrepreneurial spirit is being awakened at this crucial time, and in a place where society is longing for cultural advancement. During the month of November, at the Accelerate conference held at the Forum De Beirut, the British ambassador to Lebanon announced the launch of The British Council’s Tech Hub. The ambassador declared: “We are going to make London a launch pad for the Lebanese digital economy, by bringing British expertise and investment and connecting them with Lebanon startups.” The Tech Hub was launched with the support of the Lebanese Central Bank, aiming at positioning Lebanon as a premiere start up hub, alongside London, Berlin, Singapore, Toronto, Santiago, and Moscow.

After the launch of this initiative, the British ambassador to Lebanon, Tom Fletcher constantly encouraged intelligent and unique initiatives presented to the Tech Hub. What is best about this groundbreaking collaboration is, the fact that the Lebanese Tech community has really come together. Activities, keynotes, and workshops, are being held at the Tech Hub, and speakers from the Lebanese Tech and Digital community have been invited to tackle certain topics of interest that coincide with the today’s global market trends.

We are fascinated by this brilliant initiative, and the amount of positive outcome brought out of this Tech Hub, we are young and we are truly and deeply in need of initiatives as such. Making us take ten steps forward, having faith, trust, and dedication to our ideas, and truly having the ability and the means to implement them, rather than keep them as mere thoughts on paper.
